type='text'>1v100 UK Community Pic

Hey guys, I’m a little inactive on here, generally can be found on mn.com chat server

but I’m working on a pic of people who are going to play 1vs100 tonight,

the idea behind it is that you basically make your avatar in to one of the dress up suits like people would dress up at a real world premiere,

all you have to do to be a part of it is change your avatar clothes on your Xbox, then visit

http://avatar.xboxlive.com/avatar/<INSERT_GAMERTAG_HERE>/avatar-body.png

place your gamertag where it says Insert Gamer Tag here
then save the pic then email me at calz88live@googlemail.com
Please leave your gt in the email body aswell

I hope some of you partake in this and create a memorable pic of UK gaming alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5345821314081858962" />
The future of entertainment is in the home and with the launch of a beta season of 1v100 on xbox live this is becoming even more apparent. Originally stated for fall 2008 after been announced at that years E3 the build up and anticipation has been somewhat underwhelming with many people forgetting about the feature and concentrating on what was to be announced at E3 2009. Never less 1v100 beta season for US and Canadian Xbox Live Gold members is here.

The beta season of 1 v 100 on Xbox Live transforms you from spectator to player thru your avatar in a live experience like no other, a experience based upon the hit TV game show of the same name. The game allows you to pit yourself as the 1, a randomly chosen gamer, in the crowd 100 randomly chosen gamers, from which the 1 is chosen or the mob, basically the audience who get to play along with the game.

Everyone has the opportunity to win prizes and the game has themed shows during the week with questions on specific subjects under the tag of 1 v 100 extended play. Partaking in these events gives you a better chance of entering the crowd.
The games play using 3 of the colour keys to select the answers to the questions and are easy to get into, and tapping y makes your avatar do crazy things. The general choice of the questions was intriguing and will be easily adapted to the local area that it will be played in such are the nature of the questions

For free nobody can complain and with the chance to win some cool prizes that are to be confirmed in the UK. For overall playability this gets a 9/10 but after considering that it will probably only be fun for the first few weeks after full launch it gets knoked down to a 8/10 still a good score by any means.
1 v 100 is currently in Beta testing for US and Canadian Xbox Live Gold subscribers, and is still awaiting a confirmation date for launch in the UK, stay tuend to my twitter feed for details.

E3 2009 - Worst Kept Secret True Sony PSP GO

THe Sony PSP Go, rumerd for the past few weeks and seen for the first time over the weekend thru leaked images form Qore from the PS3 US dashbored.

The PSP go will launch in North America and Europe on October 1st at a price of $249 and euros with the uk price to be confirmed. The Sky Player is basically the Sky version of the BBC iPlayer so this means you'll be able to watch Sky content via your console. The press release touts this ability to watch TV content via your console as a first, although you can already access the iPlayer through your PS3 and Wii. What *is* excting is the nature of the content. The sport is the big draw, with the potential to watch Sky Sports 1,2 & 3 via your console. However, the full channel line-up is yet to be finalised.

The release:

Details of the full channel line-up will be revealed closer to launch, but it is anticipated that Xbox LIVE users will be able to access blockbuster movies, must-see entertainment shows, thought-provoking documentaries, programming dedicated to kids, music and the arts, as well as all the excitement of Premier League football, Test Match cricket and a wide variety of other sports through Sky Sports.

I've been using the Sky Player on my PC for the last few months and it's perfectly watchable on my paltry 2mb connection. It doesn't match the HD loveliness of the online American Football package I bought last season but there is no better legal way to watch football, rugby league etc online and is certainly an option if you don't want the full satellite TV option. The only real downer is cost - 34 quid a month for the full sports package which is not far off what you'd pay for the full satellite TV version. Current Sky users will get the content for free but pricing will be crucial for this service as tempting new subscribers is presumably the key objective for Sky. Let's see what pricing they come up with.

Perhaps the biggest advantage the Xbox implementation has over the standard PC/Mac version is the interactivity. As the release says:

As well as fans being able to communicate with one another in real time via their broadband connections, they will also be able to check news and access fixtures, league tables and other on-demand information. Interactive applications will also be developed across other programmes genres.

The service is due to launch this Autumn, presumably just in time to clash with all those blockbuster games that come out in October and November.

from http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2009/may/28/games-xbox

Tigger Woods PGA Tour 10 - Review

This is not as comprehensive as the inFAMOUS but still heres some my review.

The summer is here so that must mean it’s time for another PGA Tour. This year we see mass improvements on both visuals and sound. Overall gameplay feels much more smoother and realistic than ever before! With an addition to more people in the crowd it’s the best experience yet. The noise and atmosphere makes you feel like you’re actually in the game being under all that pressure.

The golf courses have had a big update, one including a live weather system. Meaning that if you chose to have this enabled you’ll play on the course in the condition that it is currently in real time. The rain looks stunning and isn’t just there for looks. It makes the course even harder to play on and makes the game even better.

PGA Tour 10 also introduces a new putting system. They’ve replaced the old one with a new professional one where you have complete control over how hard you want to hit the ball and which direction you want. Just like the normal swinging system you have to keep line in the center to get a straight putt.

A new practice mode has been introduced as well. Once you’ve entered this mode you’ll have complete control over where you want to place the ball, retake shots over and over and do anything you need to do until you’ve got it perfect.

That’s the only new mode I’ve found in the demo so far, we’ll just have to wait until the whole game is released to see what else EA have treated us with. I know I’ll be buying it.

inFAMOUS- the demo review

Please note: This is not the full game, so do not take it as the full game.

Let's start this with, what a fantastic demo, you will never play a demo with so much gameplay.
With a 1.2gb download, it's amazing how they've packed all this into it.

When booting up the game you're greeted with a view of a beautiful city, before long, that all changes, they blow the hell out of it. That's not all, a lot of people are affected by it, and one person, Cole, the man you take role of, has been granted with abilties that can make him 'generate' electricty from his hands.
With a fantastic comic book style cutscenes, the story of what happened over the coming days made it look more spectacular.

After all that has happened, you're given the controls, these are pretty basic. L1 to aim, R1 to shoot electriciy, R2 to absorb electricity, etc.
Then, you're whipped up into your first mission. And not a bad one at that, either. It's a pretty simple mission, and requires you to get the train moving to save the civilians. However, even on easy mode, this can be a daunting task at first, because we all know you just want to lob a load of electricity grenades at the bad guys, well, it's a little harder than that.
If you spam the grenades (which take off two of your 'battery cells' each attack" you'll drain your electricty supply pretty fast, leaving you defenceless until it begins to recharge itself. But, do not fear, there are electricity supplies everywhere.

By the end of the demo, you'll unlock probably the coolest ability ever, keep hold of down on the d-pad, and bam, a thunderstorm, you can move it around with your sixaxis control.
The demo has quite a few abilities with it, each devastating and fun to play with.

The karma in the demo is quite limited, you are either 'hero' or 'infamous' Hero, being blue electricity, and infamous being red. These both have different effects on your powers. For example, if you are infamous, and you headshot someone with you electricity shock, it willl explode, but this won't happen for hero.
Personally, infamous is the best option on the demo, but remember, this is just the demo.

The visuals of inFAMOUS are pretty fantastic, and holds up very well, you blow up a few cars, steady framerate, blow up a lot of cars, steady framerate, but put them all in a pile and throw as many electric grenades as you can, not so steady framerate, but don't fret, it's only for a moment or two. The voices in the game, suit the part, but they sound underacted for me. Also, Cole should say more things when running about, destroying things, he says the odd line but that's it.
Everything is in great detail, to the city walls, to the water you can't go in, well without dying that is. If you even step in a puddle, the electricty will flow through it around your feet. Step in a fountain, and you'll lose health. So many small things in this game, make this a unique game.

If you were to drain as much electricy from something as possible, until it runs dry, you can, and that's not all, recharge it and get it up and running again, without losing any of your supply. Whenever you use the simple electric shots, it doesn't drain from your supply, so if you're running dry, and get a refill, zap the place you got your electricity from, and use it if you want to throw a load of electric grenades, or want to create a thunder storm.
Also, keep zapping a TV, and it will change channel, simple things, create a great game. This shows how much effort has been put into this.
Image

It's really fun to play, and I recommend everyone to download on the 21st, if you don't have it already. I seem to never get tired of kicking someone to the ground, healing them, and repeating the process. While people are shouting "Show-off!" at you.

inFAMOUS demo, is very good, and well worked on, but there are a few things I found annoying, but some I think are just because it's the demo...

* If you die, when not in a mission, it will take you straight to a mission. (Demo only, I think)
* I found a terrible glitch, where you can run inside a bus, and if you jump, you will fall underneath the ground, which is water, meaning instant death.
* I don't like the fact, that you can't hang on the side of the train, and charge it that way, you have to stand on top of it. (I know, it's picky, but I wanted a 3rd one, sorry).

This is by far the most entertaning demo, ever.

Pro's:

* Very entertaining, played for atleast 3 hours already.
* Visuals are great, some times, some of the best I've seen
* It's a wide world for a demo.

Con's

* A few glitches, but nothing major.
* Sometimes the voices sound a bit choppy.
* It's not the full game. :smileysad:

9/10.

When I get the full game, I'll review, I'll include a review of the special edition version, so I'll give info on that too.

5 Things After Upgrade From Win XP to Win 7

t's been a few hours now since I've taken the plunge, downloaded and installed the release candidate version of Microsoft's latest and greatest operating system, Windows 7 on my main working computer.

I have worked out five things that will be useful for those who, like me, will make the transition over the next few months to Windows 7 RC from Windows XP, not from Vista.

(1) If Windows XP Worked Fine, 7 RC will Work Fine

I am running Windows 7 RC on a HP G6000 series, a one year old laptop with 2GB memory and a AMD Anthalon TK-56 procesor running at 1.90Ghz. I've ran the beta version on a the same laptop before and it was just as quick as the higher spec desktop that was loaded with Windows XP. Rule of thumb is Windows 7 RC will run as smoothly as with Windows XP.

(2) Windows 7 RC Is Very Different From XP visually

If, like me, you are moving to Windows 7 RC from XP, you will need to undergo a learning curve due to some significant visual differences. I stuck with the grey and conservative Windows 2000 colour scheme for almost a decade now, so shifting to the colour happy Vista like scheme is a bit disconcerting at first. Fear not though as Windows 7 has a "classic theme" that brings back the grey and blue background.

(3) You don't need to download drivers (mostly)

One thing that struck me when installing Windows 7 is how flawless the installation process is. From start to finish, it took only 30 minutes or so on my two year old laptop. Unlike Windows XP, Windows 7 automatically looks for and installs the most up to date drivers. It just works and makes life so much easier. That said, there are a couple of niggles. Neither my ultra small Bluetooth dongle nor the onboard card reader were not detected.

(4) Most software will run just fine (or even better)

After installing 10 applications or so, I can vouch that Windows 7 appears to be compatible with everything that worked fine on Windows XP. Even those, like Google's Desktop software, which stubbornly flagged dialog boxes saying that they were not compatible with the platform, ended up working just fine. Windows 7 already has a build in Windows XP profile for improved compatibility.

(5) You can try it for free

Perhaps the most compelling argument and a real deal winner for me, is the fact that users will be able to test and evaluate Windows 7 RC for free for at least 10 months. Dual booting Windows XP and Windows 7 can be easily done and makes sense, at least in the beginning. Microsoft never had a similar scheme before for such a long time for consumer operating systems. Let's hope that the software giant will emulate Apple and release a home user version.

Red Faction Guerrilla Demo- Hands On (PS3)

Background

Red Faction Guerrilla is a third person in development by Volition, Inc. and published by THQ, set to be released June 5, 2009 (the day after the end of e3) and will be released for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Microsoft Windows.
Unlike the previous Red Faction games, Red Faction: Guerrilla features a third person perspective, as opposed to the first person perspective used in the two previous Red Faction games.

Hands On

Having only ever played the third person shooters of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon , Rainbow Six and the SOCOM series , I was planning to write the game of and not even attempt the demo. However, as I heard and saw more and more chatter about the game, I decided to download the demo from the Playstation store, I was happy to get a chance to play it.

Having played through the demo more than once, I can say I am glad I changed my mind. Even though it is not my usual 1st person shooter, it feels like a first person shooter. The movement of the character is very fluent unlike gears of war, and the frame-rate keeps a steady pace. The only times I have noticed a bit of slow down were when I was driving a truck through a building, and a few times while controlling a giant destruction device known simply as a "walker". That's right, the Geo-Mod technology is back, and it is better than ever. Every building you see can be brought down. It is almost too much fun to drive a car into one side of a building and out the other.

The demo is very short, however. You can only play through one mission, which gives you a timer of 10 minutes to complete. You're given the task to infiltrate an EDF base and retrieve a walker. You can go about this any way you like; run and gun, stealth, driving a truck straight through their base. Whatever works best for you. Once you retrieve the walker, you bring it to a parked truck outside of the base where your friend is waiting to take it back. Once you reach the truck and get on the back, the main character hops onto the back of the truck and lifts a mounted grenade launcher. You are simply instructed to protect the truck from enemies while you drive back to your base.

The game is completely open-ended, which is complemented by the huge map seen at the beginning of the demo. As for the environments, the game is based on Mars, so I wouldn't expect to see much more than red rocks and some steel EDF buildings.
Overall, I get the feeling that I'm going to buy this game. Perhaps not on release day, but somewhere down the road Red Faction: Guerrilla is going to be sitting on my shelf. I would recommend that you try out the demo to see if you're really going to like this game enough to buy it.

Red Faction Guerrilla Is Out June 5th On Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows

Free Sackboy for every man, woman and child of the UK

Well, ok there probably aren’t that many to give away, and this isn’t a Government mandate or anything, but Sony Europe are giving away free woolen Sackboy toys to Happy Gadders in the UK and Ireland - yay!

So, to get your toy, simply do the following:

* Go to the official UK LittleBigPlanet YouTube I've made numerous attempts at blogging in the past using Windows Live spaces but I've finally rested here thanks to the coincidental checking of the availability of this domain and blogspot so please excuse me while I get used to the controls.

About me: I'm Rob although go by the pseudonym calz88 and have used that for just about every online handle I can think of since the new Xbox.com Forums launched. I've worked on a wide variety of web-related projects over the past few years.. Presently, I am in my final year at Leeds College Of Technology were when i have completed i intened to go to Leeds Metropolitan University

What I'll be blogging about: I'll be blogging about just about anything that interests, and is relevant to who I am and what I do. So you will likely see a wide variety of posts related to video games (although most prominently the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3), information technology in general, gadgets and such maby the occasional post that is related to absolutely nothing of that sort.

That's really about it, enjoy the site and if you have any questions feel free to private message me or shoot me an email at calz88@live.co.uk
